Remove the endcap of the Bic pen by prying it off with a screwdriver, your fingernail or any other flat object. If you cannot pry it off, you may cut off the end of the pen with a pair of scissors.

The endcap is the colored part of the pen, found on the end opposite from the tip. Cut four perpendicular lines in the pen case where the endcap previously was. This lets the pen case expand as it enters the lock. Slide the cut end of the pen firmly into the keyhole. Ensure that the pen goes in straight during this process. Hold the lock steady in one hand while holding the pen with your other hand. Shake the lock around until a click sound is heard. Again, no serious force applied, and I'm not sure what I really did because I was doing this without vision.

By the way, this success still came after suffering serious frustration and inconvenience the night before when I could not unlock the bike.
