Multipools were cherry-picking large blocks which were found to be provably pre-calculable , and hammering our networks hashrate - making mining for the solo doges incredibly difficult, while dampening their payouts massively.
The end result was Multipool's having twice as much doge as the average consumer; allowing them to dump our prices down with ease. The current reward will be , Doge per block, with the halvening dropping us to , Doge per block, etc etc.
This will prevent block cherry-picking; as we're seeing at the moment, with our community pools only seeing k blocks, while the multi's gaming the system are enjoying k blocks. This new algorithm will retarget our block times MUCH faster - ensuring the hard-mining shibe is not left holding the bag after the multipool ransack.
Multipools cannot selectively pick nice blocks anymore - nor can they do long lasting damage to our hashrates. We have implemented this code so that the new block rewards, and difficulty algorithms kick in at block K.
Up until then, it'll be standard, same-old business; beyond this, the new and improved dogecoin will kick in to action. Did you contact the majority of known pool owners in advance to make them aware of this change, and its deadline? The last updates caused forks because many pools were not seriously managed, and they kept creating blocks with the wrong version.
I strongly suggest to ask all pools to at least post a public notice on their website as soon as they update; this should give the community an idea of how well things will go It's also probably a good idea for shibes with the updated wallet to keep it running all day long on their pc; this will ensure that the p2p network will be strongly updated, and so will not relay the eventual bad blocks mined with the deprecated version.
I think it's an additional protection against forks knowledgeable devs should confirm. This means that all dedicated dogecoin miners earn substantially more overall. We can now breathe easy knowing that we won't be just another alt coin being abused by the giant multipools. Can't wait to see fair and equal payouts again! For example, will all the exchanges handling a large part of our coins criptsy, bter, coins-e or whatever have enough time to put the new wallets in production, or do they risk ending up on the wrong side of the fork and lose our preciously earned doges? Got up this morning, all drama and fears over multipool gaming, maybe a solution would be coming in 6 weeks.

Unless you're solo mining it won't be a problem, pools will send your payments using the correct block chain - you just won't see them until you update. But it still doesn't solve the problem of I'd be completely unaware that I need to update. I'd just be plugging away, not getting paid until I update. I missed out on 1. I only just happened to catch the announcement of 1. Considering dogecoin is the 'friendly' crypto, I still see this as one of the weak points that could drive people away.
Having some sort of auto-updater, or notification that it needs to update news ticker etc built into the program would finally make mining doge about as plug and play as it gets. Probably going to get hate here but new to reddit and doge, What is the proper process to updating? I think you'll find there is less hate here than anywhere else on reddit. I think it has an installer now if you have a Windoge OS.
